This year I wanted to do something fun and different with Andon for Valentine's Day. I came across these adorable crayon hearts that you make out of the random/broken crayons around your house. Here's my thing, when they brake I throw them out... But, we buy so many boxes of crayons (we are a homeschooling family :)) so it seems that I always find stray crayons around the house. And for the past year every time I would find them I would just toss them in a ziploc.
So here's what you need....
A bunch of random/broken crayons or if you wanted to get crazy you could just buy a box of new ones?!?
And a baking pan with whatever shape you want your crayons to be. We used hearts for Valentine's but i'm sure there are so many options and even just circles would be great!
That's all besides, of course, the little ones to peel all the wrappers off those darn things. That's the worst part and it's not that bad. :)
Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. Once all the crayons are peeled and broken you fill the baking pan. I only filled half way because I didn't want them to be too thick.
Bake them for 15 minutes or so. You want to make sure they are fully melted. Once you can see that they are melted just pull them out and set them in the counter to cool for about 30 - 45 minutes. After that they should just pop out.. Mine did but I have heard from some friends who tried them that there's didn't. I think the difference was the non-stick pan.
Hope this helps for anyone who wants to make them. They really were super easy and so fun to hand out for Valentine's Day.. :)
And here's some pics of my sweet little Valentine's...
Adelyn gave me the sweetest gift for Valentine's Day... She FINALLY said Mama!! Music to my ears. It really is the cutest thing she says. ;)
